Having older children, I know learning to ride a bike is a long process for kids. Toddlers normally start learning the skills they need to ride a bike with ride on toys & tricycles then move up to a bike with training wheels, until they are finally able to remove the training wheels and ride a bike on their own. This process generally takes years to go through & each new step you have to teach them all over again how to coordinate etc. Heck D still has training wheels on his bike.

Now there is a new bike out there! Strider Balance Bikes make the process of bike stages a bit easier by teaching young toddlers how to balance by using a two wheeled bike making it easier to ride a bike without training wheels. Since kids who are used to riding a balance bike already know how to balance, they only need to learn how to pedal a bike rather than starting the process from scratch.

Z-Monster turns 4!

My wild & crazy Z-Monster, you are growing up so quickly! Having my 3rd little boy I thought I knew everything. I thought that I would deliver you & bring you home with me & it would be no different than that but 4 years ago you taught me to expect the unexpected. See, you came out screaming but was quickly rushed to the NICU, I had no idea what was going on. They wheeled my bed, after surgery, up to your little NICU bed where they had you on oxygen already, then just as quickly wheeled me down to recovery where I sat not knowing what was happening. The second I started to feel my feet I told the nurse I wanted to go up to the NICU she said not yet then left. I noticed there was a wheelchair right outside my room & I told Grandma to get me the wheelchair that I was going to see my baby & no one was stopping me.

When I made it upstairs they had already put you on CPAP machine & told me they would be intabating you soon & putting you on the ventilator. My world crashed & it crashed hard! We didn't know if you would make it or not, you were the sickest baby in the entire NICU, but you did make it & are so healthy today! Mommy is so glad you are here, I don't know what we would do without you!

You have never been a Mama's boy, in fact you'd rather have your Grandma or Auntie anyday over me, but thay's ok I cherish every time you come in for hugs & kisses AND luvins! It's so cute that you call your second hug a luvin but hey I take what I can get from you. You are so full of spunk & there is not a dull moment without you.

You have traveled to quite a few places in your young life. We went to Las Vegas when you were only 10 months old, then right after you turned 1 we went to DisneyLand where you HATED the characters! You just cried & cried and of course being the mean mommy I am I still made you get your picture taken with them!

You have always had the biggest sweet tooth EVER! Even on your first birthday you dove right into the cake!

By the time you were 2 you had Grandma wrapped around your little finger! As the saying goes if Mom says no ask Grandma. All you do is ask for something & you get it.

You've always had curly hair, the texture has only changed slightly but I always loved doing your hair & I can't cut it, even though Grandpa has been bugging me for a year to do so!

We celebrated your last birthday with this blog post Happy 3rd Birthday Z-man & pretty much the only thing that has changed is your hair has gotten longer! Auntie K gave you the nickname curls & you just love it but if someone call you cute boy do you hate it! You quickly say I'm not cute, I'm just Z!

My little Z-Monster I hope that today is filled with so much love & fun! I want you to know how much we all love you, I also hope you love being my son just as much as I love being your mommy!

Today after Princess Dot had her OT appointment (which went very well, she's completely on track or ahead developmentally) we stopped by the store, as I pulled in I noticed 2 kids sitting by the door with a box in front of them. It, of course, started raining as soon as I got out of the van so I grabbed Dot & was heading for the door. A guy was in front of me & the kids say "Hey, do you want a kitten?" guy ignores them & walks in the store. We get up to the door & kid says " Hey Lady! Do you want another baby?" I smiled and said "No, thank you, I already have one." The other kid hit this kid & said " I told you that was a bad thing to say!"

I of course giggled to myself.

Those of you in Utah already know about Pioneer Day but those of you who are not probably have no clue what I'm talking about soooo....

Pioneer Day is an official holiday celebrated on the 24th of July in the state of Utah, with some celebrations in regions of surrounding states originally settled by Mormon pioneers. It commemorates the entry of Brigham Young and the first group of Mormon pioneers into the Salt Lake Valley on July 24, 1847, where the LDS settled after being forced from Nauvoo, Illinois.

We celebrate the 24th of July with parades, fireworks, rodeos, and other festivities! Also on Pioneer Day, some Latter-day Saints walk portions of the Mormon Trail or reenact entering the Salt Lake Valley by handcart. Latter-day Saints throughout the United States and around the world may celebrate July 24 in remembrance of the LDS Churches' pioneer era, with songs, dances, and pioneer related activities.

While the holiday has strong links to the LDS Church, it is a celebration of everyone, regardless of faith and nationality, who emigrated to the Salt Lake Valley during the pioneer era, which is generally considered to have ended with the 1869 arrival of the transcontinental railroad. Notable non-LDS American pioneers from this period include Bishop Daniel Tuttle, who was responsible for Utah's first non-Mormon schools (Rowland Hall-St. Mark's) and first public hospital (St. Mark's) in the 1800s. The Intertribal Powwow at Liberty Park in Salt Lake City honors the rich cultural heritage and contributions of the area's American Indians, helping Utahns to gain a deeper understanding of the region's history.

The holiday generates a great deal of road traffic; they say that Pioneer Day has the second highest holiday traffic fatality rate in Utah, with the 4th of July, Independence Day, having the highest rate!

I can't believe in 1 month, exactly, I will be 30! The boys think that I'm soooo old & I have to agree. Where the heck has time gone? I never in my life thought that I would be a stay at home mom of FIVE little kids by the time I was 30. The boys say that I am close to dying, some days I definitely feel close.

What do you get someone, when they're oh so close to dying, for their birthday? As I mentioned in my last post gift baskets are nice but some people are just not the gift basket type. However, you can never go wrong getting a girl jewelry!

Growing up in a small coastal town in southern Japan, I learned sewing and quilting from my mother in her sunny kitchen.

My mom made a lot of matching dresses, bags, and doll quilts for my sister and me…but my favorite was a school lunch bag (we don’t use brown bags in Japan!) - a beautiful pink cotton fabric with a red gingham check backing. My mom embroidered the bags with our names and lots of wild strawberries surrounded by delicate green leaves. I still have it in my drawer.

My mother gave me a life-long love for fabrics, beautiful designs, and “making things” by hand. To this day, I spend my free time searching for just that perfect pattern, remembering myself as a little girl walking around a small fabric store in my hometown, thinking really hard how many “fat quarters” I could buy with my 1000 yen ($10) allowance for that month…

At Bloom Works, I have tried to re-create the look and feel of my mother’s little kitchen. We hope you and your friends will enjoy and share a little bit of that special time and place.

In order to introduce you to WeeKnit, really I need to introduce you to my mom, Tracy. Tracy is the mastermind behind WeeKnit. We call her the chief “knit”wit. She is the designer and creator of the wonderful creations you’ll find here at WeeKnit. And while she would blush and deny my claim, she is indeed one of the most creative and hardest-working people I know.

For decades, she has been transforming the people, animals, and characters that children love into adorable finger puppets. What originally started out as a few neighborhood boutiques quickly evolved into a full-fledge business. And without looking back, she has been knitting ever since.

Sweetwater is a team of mom and two daughters that create all of Sweetwater's items. We generally have more ideas than we have time to create, but we concentrate on scrapbooking and quilting products.

Design4Generation bio: I originally designed these playmats for my family as I have three boys (6, 4, and 2 years old) and Legos were running rampant around my house. I wanted something that allowed my older boys to play, but also helped with a quick clean-up. They absolutely love them. They each have several of their own for legos, action figures, Star Wars toys, and more. I know that there are several other types of playmat bags out there, but I wanted to avoid the drawstring - I thought the drawstring could pose a serious safety concern. Stranded....

Okay we weren't really stranded but this weekend when we went to leave the house I found that my van would not start! I'd turn the key & click click click & try again.....panic set in, we canNOT afford a major repair right now. I called my Mommy of course who just so happened to be down the street with my Dad so they came over washed my battery off then gave me a jump & we were on the road.....until I turned off the van again then it was back to the click click click, lucky for us again we were at my parents house, so they came to the rescue & $90 later, got a new battery for the van so now it's up and running again!

I hope you all are having a fabulous summer! It's so hot here in Utah, today is over 100 degrees, so were spending a lot of time out playing in the water which is so much fun! In case you missed my tweet yesterday:

Everything pictured above is what was in the box. Assembly wasn't too hard, the boys and I put it together ourselves. It was funny R grabbed the legs & knew exactly where they went & was even showing his big brothers where they go. There are a few screws that need to be put in that I wasn't prepared for so I had to run back in & grab the screw driver. It also comes with fun toys to play with!

If you have a young child you know that a sand and water is one of the best things ever! Seriously, sand & water reminds us of the beach which always equals FUN. Utah is so hot right now! The other day I wanted to take the kids for a walk to calm them down & at 8:30pm it was 94 degrees! So anything that has anything to do with water play outside is perfect for us.

For the Pirate Party I made it into a sand & sand table & put hidden gems inside to have the kids dig for gold. They had so much fun doing this!

But for everyday play I am doing water & water because the boys tend to stick to the water side since it's so hot. You can see that R LOVED filling the table with water!

I love that the boys can get outside & have some fun in the sun! As you can see in the pictures they love this table! Another thing I love about this table is that it has a cover so the bugs & cats will be kept out and it has an umbrella to keep the kids in the shade as they play. This not only protects them from the sun but also keeps the table from getting too hot.

The box was a pretty good size so I was a bit intimidated by the size. But when I emptied the box as you can see my nervousness went away completely. Assembly was SO easy! I only had to screw the handles on the ships wheel:

And then screw the rocker/water part together & then onto the already assembled boat!

The Pirate Ship is absolutely stunning. It's handpainted & made of high quality wood so it can withstand the abuse my little boys put upon it. The boys LOVE this rocking ship! We've had it for a couple months now & it's still in the same shape as it was when it came out of the box. I know that it will be around for years to come!

The ice cream is so easy to make, just mix up some sugar & milk add in some heavy cream & flavoring stir it up & pour it in the machine. It's also absolutely delicious! Better than the shops we go to to get ours. Everyone scarfed it down & were asking for more. Thankfully for our waists it made just enough for everyone to only get 1 cone each.

As you can see it works just like other soft serve ice cream machines. Just put the cone underneath & pull the handle. If you want mix ins then you just open that compartment while dispensing the ice cream.

The Mix In part of it is so fun! We put chopped up butterfinger, mini M&Ms, & mini chocolate chips in the compartments. The Mix Ins drop out as the ice cream is being dispensed, that way instead of just being sprinkled on top it's actually mixed in the ice cream, which is so fun for the kids!

Since we got back from California just about every day, that we are up to my parents, my dad begs me to make him some ice cream, that's how good this stuff is! Look even when I handed mom her cone Princess Dot reached over & had a handful in her mouth before any of us could stop her!

Most swim shirts are so hard to pry on & off but these are pretty easy to remove! Little Looster Review & #Giveaway

As babies start getting older we teach them a ton of things, one of the things I dread teaching is potty training! The accidents on the floor, the frustration by both parties, but once it's over you reap the benefits!

Potty seats are perfect for younger kids, like R's age, but after so long my boys have all wanted to get using the big potty! After you get them trained there is still the fear of the big potty. They can't reach the ground for support & then when they fall in wow drama occurs & it's so terrifying for them!

Z-man has been potty trained since he was 2 & 1/2 so for about a year & a half now. He's pretty short for his age (10th%) so he has trouble sitting on the potty. He still thinks he needs to strip from the waist down to get a better grip on things with his legs to actually sit. But not anymore, The Little Looster has come to his rescue!
